There are so many alternates and possibilities to this story, mine is merely my interpretation of those elements I thought were the most meaningful. Needless to say, I like your line of thinking. It seens almost logical to think that the Pandoran wonders extend way beyond Pandora itself.

That, and a bit of Orson Scott Card’s Homecoming series. But in the spirit of Hollywood taking a mish-mash of sci-fi, elements of each could work, depending on the tone of the movie.
